A simple-seeming but resonant story of how it feels to leave one’s own country and become a foreigner in another. A dozen years after their traumatic journey from Iran to Turkey and eventually Germany and Austria, Viennese market-traders allow us to glimpse their inner lives. Blending letters, photographs, and everyday scenes, the film is an intimately personal exercise for its director as she crafts a small but powerful paean to acceptance and integration. (Neil Young)
